Seed Social 2026

The 9th Annual SEED SOCIAL is almost here!

Come celebrate the gift of SEEDS & learn about WINTER SOWING with Dirty Gaia & the Morton Seed Library.

February 21, 2026, 3–5pm, at the Morton Memorial Library, Rhinecliff

While you might see a frozen tundra out your window, it’s really the perfect time to gather and even start some seeds. Spring will be here before you know it! (Fingers crossed!). Join us to receive the gift of seeds, share your own seeds, and connect with neighbors and growers.

And if you’re ready to get your hands in the dirt now, step up to our Winter Sowing Station where we’ll show you how to make mini greenhouses out of recycled plastic jugs. All you need to do is plant some seeds in a clear jug, put it in a sunny outdoor spot outside, and let Mother Nature do the rest. This is a tried and true way to grow hardy seedlings that can be transplanted when weather warms, or to grow delicious microgreens in the cold!

If you’ve got seeds to share, please bring them and tell us about them! If not, we’ll have plenty of seeds to offer as well as soil and supplies.

Free & open to all! Just bring your enthusiasm and – if you have them –some seeds to share and an empty and clean transparent 1-gallon jug or two.

PLUS there will be kids art-making in the library basement too! Join Art-A-Go-Go Creation Station for printmaking & sewing seed bags in the MML Makerspace! ($5 donation for kid activity, but the Seed Social is free!)
