Winter Sowing 101
Start your garden now—no grow-lights required—and transplant your seedlings in spring!
In this hands-on workshop you’ll upcycle plastic milk/water jugs, turning them into mini greenhouses. Then you’ll fill them with dirt and sow the seeds of your choice—lettuce, kale, arugula, sage, mint, cauliflower, broccoli, echinacea and yarrow are among the many plants that can be planted now and left outside to sprout when the time is right. (They know!) The resulting seedlings can be planted in pots or plots when the weather and garden soil warms.
Bring your own seeds or use some of ours. We’ll provide the dirt and enough milk/water jugs for everyone to plant one batch of seeds. If you’d like to plant two batches, please bring an extra gallon plastic jug. New and experienced gardeners welcome!
